Despite a decrease in recruitment for IT positions in 2023, there is still a significant shortage of qualified staff. 2024 may bring an increase in recruitment activity, following a hiatus caused by the situation in the US tech industry. This is due to renewed interest in the development of IT centres in Poland – investors are once again making enquiries and businesses are shifting from a savings to an investment model.

The IT industry experienced mixed fortunes in 2023, with a high demand for tech experts in the market but a noticeable slowdown in the growth of IT teams. Despite this, the IT sector remains one of the most attractive for employees, offering numerous career opportunities and competitive salaries in 2024 and beyond. The final scale of investment and recruitment for this year will depend on the global economic situation and the condition of technology giants. However, with investors continuing to show interest in Poland, it is likely that the industry will continue to grow, and demand for IT specialists will remain high.
In 2023, the tech industry experienced a hiring slowdown after a post-pandemic recruitment boom. As a result, the number of projects available for IT professionals decreased, leading to reduced salary pressure. This slowdown even halted the growth of salaries offered to IT contractors in some specialisation areas. Despite these challenges, I believe we can approach 2024 with optimism. Economists estimate economic growth of 2.7% and expected inflation of 6.1%, which should encourage organisations to undertake technology projects on a larger scale. Additionally, B2B employment in the IT contracting model will remain an attractive solution for specialists in terms of salary and cost-effectiveness for organisations.
